Introduction
The aliens at the Olympics were awesome. We are amazed at the amazement, admiration and respect for the levels of uncertainty in the brutal training, laser focusing and skills at the level of genius, manifested by those who have risen to Olympic heights, not to mention the scaling of the summits called podiums. And then there are people like Katie Ledeka, Simone Beales, Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps and other Super Persons who could not be born on this planet in any way. Something is happening here, and I hope that Donald Trump will soon ask questions, pointing out, raising suspensions about these heroes and heroes of Prometheus who have infiltrated us among mere mortals.
Speaking of Michael Phelps, let me ask the question: “What about these circular bruises?” A little research shows that “Michael the Great” may suffer from some kind of gullibility associated with the new era, the BS alternative / integrative / traditional Chinese medicine.
Cupping is a fad, including the “flow of life force of one person through the suction of heated glass bowls applied to the skin.” Sacred focus. How did American or other Olympic officials blame athletes for sporting their prime-time cups? Such appearances were free ads for pseudoscience. The identification of cups marks on winners gave the right to legitimacy on unreasonable and potentially dangerous methods of treatment - all this was reflected in the minds of impressionable children and credulous adults. C & nbsp;
As for stopping, this stupidity has no medical or scientific basis - and this can be quite dangerous, which often leads to burns and infections.
Olympic credulity
Have you watched the woo woo feedback rates during the interviews? No, I do not mean a lot of signs of a cross before or after a race (is it that a good luck charm or a request for help from a deity?). I mean interviewees who claimed: “Am I so blessed” (unlike their rivals who did not receive blessings?), Fingers in the air pointing to a god in the sky, watching this event or other signs that some athletes rarely find and believe in homeopathy, acupuncture, kinesiology tape and yes, relief.
What happened to the rabbit?
Hugging?
Basically, stopping entails if someone puts on caps with a cap or glass flasks on the skin. The Olympians said they bought to ease soreness, to swim or run faster, jump higher, stay cooler, align their chakras and qi, and / or do everything they need to make a cup for them. But, of course, they had to believe, that is, to have faith, as in religion.
In addition to the ancient Chinese, it seems that some North American Indians were engaged in stopping, like the Egyptians, more than a thousand years before we got to AD 1. This was part of the bloodletting at one time, which can now be considered as another form of alternative medicine, which might come back on one of these days if it is recommended by a movie star, a celebrity or Dr. Oz or Deepak.
In the last days after Phelps was shown in front of 400 watches with cups on his upper body, images appeared on the Internet in which victims of arresting worsened. It can be dangerous if a charlatan can suck “poisons” or “toxins” from your body. Medical doctors consider some cubic marks as second or even third degree burns. Such wounds can become infected and possibly septic.
Consider that on July 1, 2016, the renamed physician named David Gorsky wrote a “Blog about science”:
Cupping is nothing more than an ancient medical practice based on a pre-scientific understanding of the body and disease, just like bloodletting and treatment based on the Four Humor. These are all risks without benefit. This is not the place in modern medicine, or at least it should not. In the end, we still do not believe in the four humors, that Hippocrates and the ancient West. medicine caused over many hundreds of years. TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is based on the same concepts as different names, substituting, for example, “Five Elements” for “Four Humors” and attributing illness to imbalances in them, just as ancient Western doctors attributed the illness to imbalances in “Four Humor. However, integrative medicine rejects one and hugs the other when it must reject them both.
In any case, everyone welcomes the Olympians.
Cupping and other superstitions aside, there is nothing but surprise and appreciation, in my opinion, for the magnificent performances shown by almost all competitors (Hope Solo? Perhaps not so much). The Olympics are really awesome, especially, if not aliens, after all.
Perhaps those who inadvertently promoted medical folly will use their platforms in the future to promote evidence-based medicine, scientific insight and skeletal research, and perhaps even REAL well-being in the coming years.
Be healthy, enjoy quests and die healthy, but only until you are good and ready.
