Medicare Supplement can protect you from unplanned expenses with Medicare -2

Medicare hearing continues in Washington Millions of older people and young people who depend on Medicare for their disability find themselves in the middle. At such uncertain moments, it is important to avoid more personal expenses and to save your savings in order to be prepared for changes in Medicare benefits.

This requires an understanding of what is now distributed to the Medicare government. Medicare is divided into four categories of benefits: Part A, Part B, Part C, and Part D. Part A covers hospital stays, home health care, and patient care. Part B handles medical services and laboratory tests. Part C reimburses Medicare Advantage plans that can replace the government provided by Original Medicare by incorporating the benefits of parts A and B along with coverage of prescriptions. If you do not have this Part C prescription, you may be interested in part D, which covers only prescription drugs.

Basically, when you get one of the Medicare Advantage Plans, you replace private insurance for Original Medicare. However, these private plans must comply with Medicare rules, so they provide all coverage through Medicare and then some. As a rule, they provide drug coverage (but not all plans cover all drugs), and often add dental and vision services. However, such plans are not publicly available. If one of these plans is available where you live, it can offer better rates, and these plans accept bids regardless of any pre-existing state, with the exception of ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease).

In addition to all four Medicare options, there is an alternative known as Medicare Supplemental Insurance, which fills in the gaps in Original Medicare. These Medigap plans cover services that Medicare does not have. For example, Medigap may pay 20 percent of all doctor's bills that Medicare recipients must pay. With 10 different types of Medigap insurance, you can choose the benefits that you are most likely to need.

Medigap plans are distinguished by letters, such as Plan A, Plan B, etc. Medigap Plan F offers the most complete coverage, but, as in the case of other types of insurance, extended coverage is provided at a price. Plan F was the most popular, but Plan G may be a more economical solution this year.

This is because preventive services are now fully covered through Original Medicare. You no longer have to pay for 20 percent of the doctor's fee for annual screening, flu shots, and some screening procedures that can detect common cancers, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. Medigap Plan G has all the benefits of Plan F with one exception. This does not reimburse you for Medicare Part B benefits for doctor services.

Now that you no longer need to discharge this portion of the deductible, if preventive services are covered, it may not be appropriate to pay higher premiums for receiving this refund. It depends on your medical history. If you usually need to see a doctor for something that will not be considered preventative maintenance, Medigap Plan F can still save you money. If all you normally need falls under the category of 100 percent preventative care, paying higher premiums does not make sense because you will not need to borrow a Part B franchise. In this case, you could not charge a benefit and receive a refund for this franchise.
