Medicare Supplement Plan - Fill in the gaps in the original Medicare program -2

You become 65. Learning the ins and outs of Medicare is confusing. Finding out all the options, such as Medicare Advantage and Medical Supplements, is even more confusing. You know that part A covers hospitals, and part B covers Medicine. But you are not sure if you need additional protection in addition to Original Medicare. Why do many people buy an extra Medicare plan and what does it cover?

To answer this question, you must first understand how Medicare Parts A & B work and what it does not cover. Medicare Part A covers most hospital expenses, but not all of these costs. In 2011, there is a franchise in the amount of $ 1,132 per visit (provided that each visit is divided by more than 60 days). If you are in the hospital for 61-90 days, you will have a co-payment of $ 283 per day. If you are in the hospital for 91-150 days, you will have a joint contribution of 566 dollars.

Concern Medicare Part B, there is an annual deductible of $ 162 (in 2011) for which you are responsible. In addition to this, you will be responsible for 20% of all medical expenses. These 20% can really, really add up. In addition to your regular visits and medical checkups, imagine if you need a knee or hip replacement. It will take months and months of physical therapy to do this - you will have to pay 20% of all these bills.

Although Original Medicare covers most medical needs, it should never cover all of your medical expenses. As you can clearly see, there are a lot of “gaps” in the lighting for which you are responsible. For this reason, many people will buy Medigap or Medicare Supplemental Insurance. These two phrases - the Medigap app and Medicare complement each other - two names that describe the same insurance. Most of the additional Medicare plans will pick up the cost of deductions and copayments in the hospital, as well as the deductible portion B and 20%.

For most people, it is exposed to 20% of medical bills, which are a scary part. A test battery could cost a small fortune. If you need physical therapy or rehabilitation, these two weeks of visits, which cost you 20%, really add up. Add a potential part A hospital of 1,132 for each visit, and you are looking at a fairly medical bill. For this reason, most people want to fill these gaps in coverage,

With an extra Medicare plan, you add extra monthly expenses. However, the tradeoff is that you will have a known expense, as opposed to potentially very high costs, if you use the benefits.

If you have a Medigap plan in addition to your red, white, and blue Medicare card, this original Medicare is your primary coverage. First they pay medical bills. Your Medicare Supplement will then pay for spaces (deductible / co-payment / co-insurance) that Medicare does not pay. And voila! If you have Original Medicare and a good Supplemental Medicare plan, you now have full, comprehensive coverage with little or no cost.
