It doesn't matter if you add a small bathroom or remodel one, storage and organization in the design of the bathroom is very important. Careful planning and design for storing and organizing the storage space that you have will allow you to save a small addition and save money when you redo a small bath or plan on adding a bathroom. How you treat the surfaces in your small bathroom will also be important in how large the room looks and feels. This will also be a factor in how easy it is to keep a room clean.
The design of any small renovation or addition of a bathroom should pay great attention to storage - not only the provision of storage space, but also the provision of adequate secure storage areas and maintenance of order. Nothing makes a small bathroom smaller than a mess on all surfaces. There are several traditional storage options. The most common storage areas are in
- Vanity where you can have space in the cabinet or a combination of drawers and cabinets;
- Medical office;
- Closet that can be very difficult in a small bathroom; and
- Shelves.
Most remodelers tend to think of a pharmacy above the sink. But with a little creativity, you can use additional storage cabinets for medicines in other places in the small bathroom to provide both space and the reflective property of the mirror to make the room larger. For example, a larger pharmacy cabinet placed in a wall at one end or behind the bathroom is an excellent place to store soap, lotions, a bubble bath, towels, and even towels. All items needed for a bath can be in close contact, but out of sight.
Some people like the idea of sharing even small vanities with a cabinet on the one hand and drawers on the other. Large items can be stored in the closet, and small items can be arranged in boxes. If you have small children, you can also put locks on the drawers used to store potentially dangerous items and cleaning products.
If you plan to use the shelves for storage in your new bathroom, think about building shelves that are recessed into the wall. These shelves can be framed with trim or left frameless. Or you can add doors to keep things on the shelves without dust. In a small bathroom, doors with glass or frosted glass doors will make the room more spacious than solid wood doors (and the glaze creates enough blur that you don’t need to be as neat). You can use shelves strictly for storage, or you can mix the storage and display of decorative items. If you can’t or don’t want to create recessed shelves, you can consider installing glass racks. Because they are clear and reflect light, they do not make the room look smaller, as wooden shelves can do.
Organization is very important in a small bathroom. The creative use of nooks and crannies, as well as shelves and dresser cabinets, can save space, make the most of the space and keep objects near them where they will be used. There are many types of organizational units for drawers and cabinets. If you are planning your own vanity or shelves, you can put in whatever you want from the point of view of dividers, etc.
Walls, floors, baths and showers, lamps and ceiling processing are important when designing a small bathroom that is easy to clean and not shy. Here are a few things to consider about walls, floors, and ceilings:
- The tile is very easy to clean and can be used on floors, walls and in the surroundings.
- Installation time of radiation floor or wall heating prior to floor installation. This can be a great addition to any bathroom and unexpected luxury in a small bath.
- Mirrors and glass reflect light and enhance the appearance of the room.
- Installing a sound card for drywall, under the flooring and ceilings is a great addition to any bathroom.
- If you do it yourself, be sure to use a cement board for baths and showers, as well as a green board or a blue board for your bathroom (it does not absorb moisture and is less prone to mold).
- Wallpapers can be a great idea in any bathroom. You can try to use vinyl paper because it is easier to clean and not absorb moisture, mold or mildew; The use of fabric can be an invitation to trouble in any full bathroom.
- Vertical streaks in wallpaper or paint will tend to increase the size of the room.
- Keeping colors in no more than two different colors will also make the room more attractive and relaxed.
- Many remodelers prefer to use semi-gloss or gloss enamel paint in bathrooms, as it is less susceptible to moisture, steam or frequent cleaning.
- The choice of built-in wardrobes and furniture racks will make the room larger
