Essential oils are able to produce the desired result faster than herbs. A drop of peppermint oil is equivalent to 26 cups of peppermint mint. Essential oils have multiple effects when many drugs usually have only one drug plus negative side effects.
Some medical professionals do not recommend applying essential oils to the paws. Pets will lick their feet, and this can cause irritation, because saliva is like water. Essential oils quickly penetrate the skin. Compounds such as fertilizer, antifreeze and other toxicants can be absorbed faster when essential oils are applied to their paws.
I took advice from Dr. Nancy Brandt, DVM and used the knowledge in the business of promoting my dog. She is a holistic veterinarian located in Las Vegas, Nevada and uses Young Living essential oils in her practice. Most essential oils should be diluted with a base or oil for transport prior to application to the pet. For dogs, the recommendation: 1 drop of essential oil to 10 drops of base / carrier oil, as well as for cats, rabbits and ferrets, 1 drop of essential oil to 25 drops of base / carrier oil. You can listen to Dr. Brandt’s lecture on 1/29/2009 on the Internet dedicated to the 16 live essential oils that a pet owner should have on hand.
In my opinion, the best base or carrier oil is organic cold pressed olive oil, grape seed oil or fractionated coconut oil. Avoid nut oils if your pet is allergic to nuts. I recommend using Young Living's Advanced V-6 Plant Oil Complex as a base oil. Ingredients V-6 are fractionated coconut oil (coconut oil), sesame seed oil (sesame oil), Vitis grape seed oil (grapes), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis oil (sweet almond oil), Triticum Vulgare germ oil (wheat), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower oil) and Olea Europaea oil (olive). Cold pressed olive oil and grape oil are other uses as base oil.
Oil and water do not mix; Water causes the oil to irritate your pet's skin. If your pet has sensitivity to any essential oil, dilute the oil with base / carrier oil or add more base / carrier oil to the place where you applied the essential oil. If any essential oil gets into your pet's eyes, rinse it with oil / oil, never use water.
I chose Young Living's essential oils. They are therapeutic class and are handled correctly. They are organic and do not contain toxicants such as pesticides. Not all essential oils can be ingested. Young vital essential oils are one of the few essential oils that can be taken in internal security. There are 42 kinds of incense, but Young Living makes 2 kinds with the most therapeutic benefits that are not the cheapest to make and process. Oils are processed at low temperatures by steam distillation or cold pressing. This makes natural properties available. Some brands of essential oil process their products at a higher temperature, and as a result, their essential oils do not have all the properties plus they may contain toxicants. They are cheaper and not as effective.
Balsam fir (Idaho) essential oil is an anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant (stops blood from clotting) and acts as a cortisone. It is used for respiratory problems and pain. For breathing problems, rub the chest. For problems with pain, rub the source. I throw it in my cattery if I see or hear any signs of a cold or cough. You can combine 2-3 essential oils together and dissipate to get the desired results.
Eucalyptus Radiata can be used as a smiling salt and helps open the lungs when an upper respiratory infection is present. Its medicinal properties are antibacterial, antiviral, expectorant and anti-inflammatory. Like a smelling salt bottle is held under the nose. For breathing problems, rub the chest. I use eucalyptus on my dogs. fabric collars, and it works as a repellent bug. I spray eucalyptus on my main cap while fishing, and the bugs leave me alone.
Frankincense can cross the blood / brain barrier and help increase oxygen in the brain. Incense is used for infections and tumors, dissolves lumps and bumps. Incense antibacterial, antiviral, expectorant and anti-inflammatory. It can be applied topically, absently, or simply inhaled. I applied incense to the pieces on my pets, and the size of the piece quickly decreases.
Helichysum is great for bruising or bleeding. I use it to remove dew claws or dock tails. It speeds up the healing process. This essential oil is not diluted, and rubbed directly on the bare belly, be sure to avoid the genitals. Apply 1 drop per 1 inch of bare belly up the center of the abdomen. Therapeutic properties of Helichrysum - an anticoagulant, anesthetic, antispasmodic, antiviral, liver detoxifier; chelates chemicals and toxins plus regenerates nerves. Choose Helichysum if rat poison is suspected. This will help control internal bleeding during a trip to the vet.
Lavender is a universal essential oil and can be used for almost anything. This essential oil is applied neatly (not diluted). Lavender is great for treating burns, including sunburn. Lavender has a great sedative effect. Here is a recipe that can be misting up in the air: add 2 drops per 1 ounce. Steamed distilled water placed in a spray bottle is shaken before each use. Its medical properties are antiseptic, antifungal, antitumor, anticonvulsant, vasodilator, relaxant, anti-inflammatory, reduce the amount of fat in the blood / cholesterol and fight the excess sebum on the skin. I use lavender to clear the tears on my puppies while they cut their teeth. Use only once a day, put one drop on your finger and rub it through your nose and under your eyes (avoid eyes). I like to use it at night, as lavender has soothing properties.
Peppermint is great for treating diarrhea and vomiting. Remember to dilute the base / carrier oil formula. The medical properties of peppermint are anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antiparasitic (worms), antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, gall bladder / digestive stimulant and analgesic, and helps curb appetite. I use peppermint and diluted on the gums to stop diarrhea.
Pine works for respiratory problems and works even better when mixed with eucalyptus. This is a great combination for diffusion during the winter months and it smells great. Or you can rub it on the chest between the front legs. Pine medical properties are hormone-like, anti-diabetic, cortisone-like, antiseptic and lymphatic stimulant.
Essential oil blends are a combination of several essential oils having a range of gross beneficial properties. Di-Gize helps in relieving diarrhea and vomiting. It works better than mint. Apply the oil on a bare belly and wipe it clockwise as the colon moves. Egyptian gold helps the immune system and is used for open wounds (fighting a dog / cat). It is applied to the chest and between the shoulder blades on the back. Joy helps the heart and electricity system. Apply to the chest and side of the ribs. GLF should be used if your pet ends up in something toxic, such as fertilizer or allowance. Wipe the liver. The liver is located just below the ribs on the right side. Melrose is great for chronic infections such as abscesses (wounds) that are difficult to heal. Panavei for dog bites, bruises, cuts and scratches. Scrubbing is used undiluted with bites. He cleans the air and kills the virus, Parvo. He balances electricity. Use it on your pet's bedding as a diffuser. Mix 1 drop to 1 oz of steam distilled water in a spray bottle. Shake well before use and spray the room, bedding and toys that your pet touches to disinfect. I recommend this important for my clients if they plan to grow their pets in order to preserve the embryo of their pet. Thieves kill bacteria and can be used as a natural antibiotic. Thieves should be used to clean your pet's teeth. This is a healthy option, after which your pet is at the vet to clean your teeth. Apply a drop with your finger and wipe your pet's upper gums once a week or daily if you find problems. Thieves are not recommended for cats because of their sensitivity to the liver. Valor is a chiropractic in a bottle. He mutes the body, balancing the energy centers (chakras). Apply to the spine. This is a wonderful blend of pet essential oils that lead active life styles, such as hunting or testing.
