Can an application called MSM be the answer?
Acid reflux or gerd (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is a condition in which fluid spills from the stomach into the esophagus. This fluid contains mostly acid with some pepsin and bile. All three of these fluids are potentially dangerous to the sensitive tissue of the esophagus, the acid being the most harmful. This reflux fluid can inflame and damage the lining of the esophagus (esophagitis). If this condition is allowed to become chronic, it can eventually turn into Barrett's esophagus, which is the precursor of esophageal cancer.
Up to 15 million Americans experience acid reflux every day. People at any age are susceptible to this condition. Older people who suffer from acid reflux tend to suffer more than young people. Esophageal cancer is diagnosed annually in 13,000 people. At least 12,000 people die from it. Overall survival is very low. Acid reflux is the biggest known risk factor for Barrett's esophagus, which can become esophageal cancer.
Barrett's esophagus occurs when chronic reflux or esophagitis is not controlled. Through constant inflammation and damage, normal cells that line the esophagus, called squamous cells, turn into specialized columnar cells. Columnar cells are usually not detectable in humans and may become malignant.
Although it can happen to anyone, it usually happens in people over forty who have had regular bouts of heartburn for more than five years. Some of the symptoms make it difficult to swallow and wake up at night with heartburn pain. Some people have no symptoms at all.
Scar tissue can develop from a constant attack of acid on the delicate lining of the esophagus. The tissue can become thickened and hard, which makes the esophagus narrower. This can make it hard to swallow food or even water.
I firmly believe in natural medicines against traditional medicine. When I go to the doctor, it is intended only for diagnosis. Then, instead of harming myself with harmful pills and painful procedures, I try to cure this condition using alternative methods. I found that MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) has the ability to soften scar tissue, making it flexible and permeable. I believe that by taking MSM on a regular basis, you can avoid the serious problems associated with chronic acid reflux.
MSM is advertised as the best natural healing agent, since vitamin C. It appears to have the ability to reduce pain and inflammation. It is currently used to treat a wide range of diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and gout. It is even used to treat snoring and constipation. MSM is used with great success on horses and dogs to control allergy-related infections.
I use MSM to treat my 12 year old Jack Russell Terrier, Jack Pot summer allergies. It works like magic. By giving him a gram of MSM in a small cheese twice a day, I reduced his itchy and running eyes associated with airborne allergies to a minimum.
I also use MSM eye drops. Obviously, he has the ability to reduce, if not prevent, a cataract. It seems they dissolve them. My mother had a cataract in both eyes. She had one ophthalmologist removed. When she told me what she had, I immediately put it on MSM. When she returned to the doctor for her pre-operative exam for the second eye, they found that another cataract had completely disappeared.
Are cataracts a form of scar tissue? I believe that scar tissue and Barrett's Esophagus have an important connection. Therefore, if MSM does have this beneficial effect on scar tissue, sometimes it can prevent or at least improve Barrett's esophagus. Maybe MSM can help prevent such cancer? I do not know, but I will continue to accept this, and not to expose myself to the so-called "modern medicine".
If you need to go on an allopathic medical route, Barrett's diagnosis of the esophagus includes endoscopy. The doctor applies a long mechanical tube to the throat to observe the esophagus and perform a biopsy. This may not be a very pleasant procedure. And what if the results are negative? The doctor will most likely prescribe drugs that have harmful side effects. Some of these drugs include H2 blockers, such as cimetidine, ranitidine, and famotidine. Or he may prescribe drugs of omeprazole and lansoprazole, which are inhibitors of the proton pump.
Some side effects of these drugs are: headache, bowel disorders, such as diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain, excess gas in the stomach and intestines (flatulence), dry mouth, skin reactions such as rash and itching, skin inflammation (dermatitis, dizziness, pain in muscles and joints, swelling of legs and ankles due to excess fluid (peripheral edema), pins and needles (poverty), depression, agitation, confusion, difficulty sleeping insomnia), drowsiness (drowsiness), diseases of the liver or blood. This list has no end.
If the drugs do not work, then he will most likely suggest a surgical procedure called fundoplication, which involves removing the damaged part of the esophagus and attaching the remaining part to the stomach.
For myself, I will continue the search and experiment with natural medicines for acid reflux. I think that, despite the fact that the medical approach may be worse than the disease itself.
I have been a victim of acid reflux for many years. I had disappointing impressions from doctors who knew nothing about nutrition or alternative medicine. In principle, doctors know how to write recipes. They know nothing about healing. They only learn how to treat symptoms by doing drugs that support the pharmaceutical industry.
The proton pump inhibitors that my doctor prescribed did not help me tremendously. Along with the harmful side effects caused by these drugs, no one knows that because of their prolonged exposure to the human body.
Since conventional medicine did not help me, I was very motivated to explore alternative healing methods. After much research and experimentation, I found natural ways that allowed me to completely cure the state of acid reflux. MSM was one of them.
