 Alternative health history -2

Many people hear the words alternative health care, natural medicine, herbal remedies, etc., and they roll their eyes. This is not a new reaction. These people believe that natural medicine "mumbo jumbo" and can not compete with Western medicine. They probably do not know that natural medicine or alternative health care exists for a very long time. It has a history that is much longer and more diverse than Western medicine, and it is actually accepted by the major of the Eastern world, as well as by many other places on earth.

The history of alternative health care begins in the Middle East and Egypt, about 5,000 years before Christ. The people of these countries and regions had their own special methods of treating their sick or wounded, and they had many solutions for common everyday diseases as well as long-term observables. These methods were transferred from the male / female medic to the next, and through the generations, physicians of that time honed their healing skills and became excellent assets for their people.

Further east, scientists and historians have discovered that both India and China have medical practices that are also 4000-5000 years BC. In India, the healing principles that have passed through generations, rarely amulers and ayurvedic medicines, are still practiced today and now extend beyond India. This not only demonstrates the strength of the oral tradition and the great heritage, but also is evidence that these natural remedies really work, because they have survived for so long and are still recommended.

In China, the concept of balance, yin and yang, Chi, the five elements, the harmony of emotions and spirit are concepts that are still visible. Not only do many of the people in China still follow these theories and principles, but almost everywhere you find a Chinese population, you will find a Chinese herbalist or medic or a practitioner of acupuncture. Taoism is also still a popular alternative medicine that is practiced today. It is remarkable, however, that more than Inidan’s means, Chinese remedies extend to other societies, and some of its methods have even been recognized by Western doctors.

Entering the Western world, Europe also had a history of natural medicine, which is about 2,000 years old. Poor Europeans have found herbal remedies to help their patients. They also practiced naturopathy and hydrotherapy, although hydrotherapy or hydrotherapy is something that can be traced in ancient Rome. Even the US has a history of natural medicine, widely used during the first colonies, where healing was given primarily to wives, who were later persecuted as witches.

Although many are skeptical of alternative medicine, the world still has its place. Twenty-five percent of Scottish physicians qualify in homeopathy, and the United States opens its doors to these Eastern traditions. Radically, as it sounds, nothing really is more natural. After all, the whole world has been practicing this method of healing for thousands of years!
