In recent months, I have seen an increase in the Parvo Dogs virus here in Granada Hills, California. Granada Hills is a Los Angeles suburb in the San Fernando Valley.
Parvo is a virus that attacks the gastrointestinal system in the canines. Parvo vaccine does not protect dogs 100% of the virus. It is common for dogs under the age of three to be infected with this virus whenever they are vaccinated or not.
The virus is transmitted through animal feces. It does not matter whether the infected fecal is dry or wet. Kale may be a few weeks old and still carry the virus. A microscopic amount of feces can be transferred to your hands, shoes or any object and infect any suspicious dog
Symptoms of the Parvo virus include vomiting, lethargy, and bloody Dirice. Parvo is a very deadly disease. With the treatment, 80% of the dogs that contract with Parvo will live. Without treatment, 70% of dogs that become ill will die. There is Parvo tension, which attacks the brain and heart muscle. If the dog reduces this tension Parvo, they will die no matter what kind of treatment. There are several different tests on the Parvo market, but there is no test to see how much Parvo they have.
Most dogs that are infected with the Parvo virus do not die from the virus, but die from dehydration. The virus causes so much vomiting and diarrhea, the animal becomes dehydrated and dies.
Parvo treatment is three to five days. Treatments include intravenous fluids, antibiotics, anti-vomiting drugs, anti-diarrheal drugs, potassium chloride supplements, and vitamin supplements. Many dogs will get worse until they get better during treatment.
Every time a dog vomits, the dog dehydrates a little more. Thus, you do not want to do anything to aggravate the stomach and worsen the condition of the pet. During treatment, all medicines will be given by injection. The dog should not take medication, food or water in the mouth. Anything that gives the mouth can upset the stomach and promote vomiting.
After the cessation of vomiting and diarrhea, the veterinarian will try a patient on a small amount of water and see if he vomits. If he does not, they will increase the amount. If he still does not have vomiting, they will try a patient on a small amount of soft food. If the patient does not have vomiting, they will increase the amount. As soon as the patient ate and drank without vomiting or diabetes, and the energy level is normal, the hospital usually sends the patient home.
In the few cases where the dog reduced the tension of Parvo, which attacks the brain and heart muscle. It is not uncommon when a dog seems to recover, and then dies unexpectedly. The Parvo canine strain is infected only by dogs; it is not infectious to humans or other species. There is Parvo's human stress, but it is not related to dog stress.
Bleach kills the Parvo virus. If you suspect that your home, clothing or any other object has been in contact with the Parvo virus, you should rinse it thoroughly with bleach.
Prevention is the best defense against Parvo. Make sure your fangs get all their vaccinations. Parvo vaccinations are prescribed at the age of six weeks, nine weeks of age, 12 weeks of age, 15 weeks of age, and then once a year for the rest of their lives. For dogs that are less than three years old, avoid dogs you are not familiar with.
I hope you found this information useful.
