Braces and ulcers ulcers
Ulcer disease can be painful, especially when braces constantly rub pain. They are also known as aphthous ulcers. They irritate irritations in the mouth, which affect many Americans every year. They differ from cold ulcers, which usually appear outside the mouth on the lips.
The exact cause of most ulcer ulcers is unknown. Some foods, including citrus or sour fruits or vegetables (for example, lemons, oranges, pineapples, apples, figs, tomatoes, and strawberries), can cause sores or worsen the situation. Sometimes a sharp tooth surface or dental appliance, such as brackets and even biting the inside of the cheeks or tongue, can also cause canker sores. Stress, immune system reactions, and family history tend to play a large role in the incidence of these ulcers.
The presence of other peptic ulcers, such as Crohn's disease, IBS or digestive ulcers, can also have an effect. Doctors now believe that some of these ulcers can be caused by H. pylori and other bacteria. If you have other problems and often have ulcers, you should talk to your doctor, because this could be a symptom of a more serious problem. Whatever the cause, canker sores are annoying and painful, especially if they occur inside your lip near the brace
There is no permanent cure for canker sores only for treating discomfort or pain. Most ulcer ulcers last from 10 to 14 days and can be treated with over-the-counter remedies. If you have frequent canker sores, talk to your dentist or orthodontist about it.
Available products include:
Zilactin-B, Orabase-B, Rincinol, Anbesol and Orajel, which form a protective coating and can last for several hours.
Other tools that have helped our patients over the years include:
Rinse your mouth with salt water. This is a good way to relieve irritation of the mouth or throat. Salt water also acts as a mild anti-bacterial.
Avoid acidic foods that can irritate your mouth ulcers (for example, citrus juices, tomato based products, oral vitamin C)
The mixture, which can be useful, consists of 1-2 tablespoons of Maalox, mixed with t tablespoon of liquid diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Weigh a teaspoonful in your mouth and spit it out. This can be done four times a day. Make sure you do not swallow the mixture, and be careful when using this protection with children, as Benadryl can cause toxicity.
Try a few tools and see what works best for you. If the canker sore gets irritated next to the bracket, you can also ease the pain by applying a large amount of dental wax or dental silicone on the offensive bracket. This creates a barrier between your bracket and pain. Doing this, in combination with the drug of your choice, will help to heal the pain.
