Components and alternatives of toothpaste -2

Most of us desire to have a charming smile and sparkling teeth. That is why we sometimes try almost all brands and all types of toothpaste just to know which one will give us the best results. There is no harm in it. However, we must understand that this product, which we use every day, can harm our body.

One of the main ingredients of toothpaste is fluoride. However, some toothpastes contain a huge amount of this chemical. Excessive fluoride within our system can cause a number of problems, such as chronic fatigue, arthritis, rheumatism, constipation, and possibly cancer. According to the World Health Organization and the US Environmental Protection Agency, fluoride is considered an unclassifiable carcinogen.

There are also other chemicals found in toothpastes that are sometimes not even listed in the tube. The chemicals in the toothpaste, when we use them, are absorbed by our teeth and gums. And since there are times when we swallow toothpaste along with our saliva, these chemicals reach certain parts of our gastrointestinal tract. These chemicals can cause stiffness in the joints and muscles. Our nerves can also be affected, which can cause cramps and pain.

Some toothpastes claim to have a formula against sensitive teeth to prevent pain in the gums and teeth. The reason they can prevent pain is because manufacturers include painkillers in these toothpastes. As people use them every day, the nerves in their mouth are slowly affected.

Regular use of these harmful chemicals from toothpastes can also cause our breathing to become shallow. Our heartbeat may increase. Some may get muscle cramps in different parts of the body. And since it affects the blood and heart, a problem with the heart may arise in the future.

There is toothpaste that also prevents gum bleeding. This is possible because of the blood clotting chemicals that are placed in these products. However, these agents can not only stop bleeding in the gums, but can also develop blood clots that can lead to strokes and heart attacks.

One type of chemical that was found in a toothpaste is sodium laurel sulfate or SLS. This chemical is also common in shampoos. This can cause skin inflammation and separation of the layers, as indicated in the Journal of the American College of Toxicology in 1983. SLS can also cause permanent eye damage according to Dr. Keith Green of the Medical College of Georgia.

Although these effects cannot be detected immediately, it causes the long-term effects of these chemicals in our bodies. And the fact that these products are part of our daily lives, we can face a huge risk for these side effects without knowing it. Our vanity can cause us to engage in a toothbrush several times a day.

We need to learn to explore and find alternatives and take responsibility for our future. Be sure to check the label and start to find something that can help in oral hygiene without side effects.
