Morning sickness medicine to rely on nausea -2

Medications for morning sickness can range from home remedies recommended by family and friends, to over-the-counter drugs prescribed by your doctor or health care provider. Although symptoms can be alleviated by taking the medication prescribed by the family, sometimes morning sickness is cured only with a dose of the prescribed medication. Thus, sucking gingerbread does not always help.

Although there are medications during pregnancy that you can use with the advice of your doctor, anti-ailment remedies are always recommended for treatment, because you should not expose your growing baby to medications. But these methods cannot facilitate the help of every woman, and she can turn to several medicines for nausea, as prescribed to her.

Over-the-counter drugs

Over-the-counter medications may include what is not officially indicated for pregnancy. Emetrol is an over-the-counter medicine that is considered safe during pregnancy. Then there are medications, such as Zantac or Pepcid, which sometimes work for women who have nausea and vomiting caused by various symptoms of gastrointestinal upset, such as indigestion and heartburn.

There is a drug Bendectin, which combines an antihistamine, called doxylamine with vitamin B6. Once widely used in the United States to treat morning sickness, the use of Bendectin caused controversy about its safety during pregnancy and forced the manufacturer to take it out of the market. These days in Canada, called Dicletin, its ingredients have been classified by the FDA as safe and effective for nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

Doxylamine Sleeping Pills, available under the brand name Unisom Nighttime Sleep-Aid, can treat morning sickness. This can make you sleepy, so you should not drive while taking doxylamine, or you should go to the kitchen. Just do not take it without a prescription from your doctor.

If you are still not suffering from relief, your doctor may have to prescribe something for you. When it comes to prescription drugs, your doctor may suggest medicines for nausea, such as Compazine or Tigan or the antihistamine Phenergan.

Zofran, originally intended to control nausea in patients with chemotherapy, can be effective in controlling nausea in pregnant women, but it is a very expensive drug and will not be covered by many insurers.

Treatment of Hyperemia Gravidarum

If your nausea and vomiting is so severe that you cannot hold anything, including water, juice, food, prenatal vitamins or medications, you are likely to suffer from the hyperemesis of Gravidarum, which is a serious type of morning sickness. If your inability to swallow anything without vomiting, it's real, and you start to suffer from weight loss and dehydration that you bought to consult with your doctor. Your doctor may want to check you in the hospital and treat you with intravenous (IV) fluids and medications until you can eat without dropping. Dropeidol in combination with liquids, vitamins and antihistamine diphenhydramine is an effective and powerful drug to control nausea and vomiting. Droperidol has properties that allow you to quickly control nausea and vomiting so that you can start eating and drinking again within a day or two.
