Osteopathic treatment of sleep disorders -2

Osteopathic medicine is a practical health care system that focuses on the entire patient from nutrition and emotional stress factors, to their spiritual life and the musculoskeletal system. The theory of osteopathic medicine is that the whole person influences human health. Everything is considered interdependent and the musculoskeletal system plays an important role.

Cranial osteopathy is associated with movement of the brain and spinal cord and will affect the cerebrospinal fluid and membrane surrounding the brain, and the movement of the sacrum between the thighs. This method is similar to the sensation of acupressure and is believed to release limited muscles, bones, ligaments, membranes and fluid movement to improve human health and free up your body to begin self-healing.

Cranial osteopathy is a unique form of treatment used to treat colic, reflux, inability to thrive, infections and sleep disorders in infants and young children. As people grow up in adolescence and young adults, cranial osteopathy is also used to reduce migraine headaches, backaches and improve overall health.

Cranial osteopathy was developed by William Gardner Sutherland in the early 19th century. He was with an osteopath who discovered that the skull was made of bones that were connected in a complex way to give a slightly inferior movement. He realized that it was possible to allow a slight rhythmic expansion and contraction of the brain inside the skull, which was completely independent of the movement of breathing and heartbeat.

This soft manual treatment is aimed at restoring normal body movement and ensuring healthy functioning and integration into all systems. This therapy is used in infants and young children who have problems with sleeping disorders or sleep disorders.

The theory and treatment of sleep disorders in young children and infants is that the tension of the bone and membrane sheath inside the skull will keep the child’s nervous system in a constant state of alertness. This constant state of alertness prevents the baby from sleeping easily.

In the case of an adult, this constant state of vigilance is often caused by stress or “a mind that does not calm down,” which does not change due to improved fluid mechanics inside the skull. Treatment of sleep disorders in adults may find some relief in cranial osteopathy, but more often it helps the treatment of a psychologist or the physical assessment of sleep apnea.
