Medical issues quickly turn into big problems in an emergency
Is there a need for medical care that needs to be addressed? Diabetes? Blood pressure? Another condition that requires regular medical care? During a disaster, an emergency and medical services will be overloaded and probably will not be able to reach you. If you can reach them, they may not have what is necessary for proper treatment.
In a disaster situation, people with medical needs that require regular treatment will die. I do not mean. I base it on the historical facts of previous disasters. People die in disasters. The longer the disaster, the more people will linger and die from previously treated diseases.
What can you do for medical emergencies?
Look for other ways to treat these conditions, except with medical answers.
- If you have high blood pressure, lose weight now. Get in shape by walking. Strengthen your body to such an extent that high blood pressure is not such a factor or does not eliminate it all together.
- If you have diabetes, reduce or eliminate carbohydrates from your diet. This will reduce or eliminate the need for insulin and oral medications. A side effect of this will be weight loss.
- Look for medicinal herbs or vitamins for your condition.
- Cinnamon helps insulin work in your body.
- Aspirin, in addition to being a mild pain killer, is thinner than blood.
- Niacin helps keep the arteries clear and reduces blood fats.
- Biotin promotes the absorption of carbohydrates.
- Aloe plant has healing properties that have no analogues in nature.
- Everyone knows that vitamin C is an excellent cold preventer.
- Everyone knows that calcium helps bones to be stronger.
- Fish oil helps with triglycerides and cholesterol.
Finding a book about Native American Americans or natural resources will be a reasonable investment. There are some really good books that can help you take care of your needs. Currently, many of them can be put into action before disaster strikes or emergencies.
Your plan should include medical supplies and places to receive them. One of our favorite store locations is our local dollar store. I was shocked at how many of our needs can be met by a trip to the dollar store.
You will need to build your stocks over time and store them in a place that is easily accessible and easy to find. Preferred is a container with a label with a large label (symbol of the Red Cross).
