Nystatin is an antifungal drug usually prescribed to treat mold and yeast infections. It is considered a reliable medicine for the treatment of oral or gastrointestinal diseases associated with Candida species.
Nystatin is a proven remedy for cutaneous, vaginal, mucous, and esophageal candidiasis. It is even prescribed for the treatment of neonatal oral thrush older than one month. However, for younger children, miconazole is a suitable alternative medicine.
So, how does Nystatin cure your candida infection?
Nystatin attaches to ergosterol, which is the main component of the cell membrane of the fungus, Candida albicans or any fungus in this regard.
