It contains more than 4,500 medicinal herbs, as well as information about acupuncture, massage, diet and exercise. Sun Si Miao lived from 581 to 682, and his code is considered the basis of Chinese medical ethics. It is based on the principles of Confucianism and Mahayana Buddhism, especially the concept of universal compassion and love. Sun Simiao was remembered as the "Father of Chinese Medicine", and there are still celebrations in his hometown dedicated to his life.

Whenever a great doctor treats a disease, he must first calm his spirit and decide his resolve. He must not yield to desires and desires, but must first develop a relationship of compassion. He must swear to save the suffering of all living things. If someone comes for help, he should not ask, prosperous or ordinary, sick or poor person, old or young, handsome or ugly. Enemies, relatives, good friends, Chinese or barbarians, stupid and wise, are all the same.
He should think of them as his closest relatives. He should not be overly cautious and worry about omens or about his own life. He must look upon others' sufferings as his own, and be deeply concerned. He should not hide in the mountains. Day and night, in cold and heat, in hunger, thirst and fatigue, he must strive for salvation. One who acts in this way is a great doctor for life. The one who acts the other way is a great thief for those who still have their mood.
