8 strategies to defeat discouragement - help your teenager cope with depression and anxiety naturally-2

Fairy tale

Let's just say I had a different picture of how teenage years will pass. I have a lot of friends at home school, whom I watched before I had my own teenagers - and they had it all together. (Now I know that no one has everything together if they are not lucky.) I had visions of wonderful walks in the park, quick family walks and respectful conversations that danced on my head during all my childhood years. In the end, I did hard work on discipline before, so that by the time we got to adolescence, we would all be tense. Correctly?

I mean, I knew that because of adoption, parenting abilities would have injuries and runs due to injury. I knew it. But overall, I thought it would be manageable, and that since we were agreed and set firm boundaries from an early age, our upbringing would be quite easy once they became teenagers.

In addition, parenting was it gets easier every year. All children succeeded and improved every day, not only in school work, but also in character.

Teens should act like adults.

I know some of you who do not live in a house at home probably think that this is crazy talk. However, in my world there is a large proportion of people who, for whatever reason, believe that hormonal insanity, bodily changes and sharp mood swings caused by adolescence should not affect the adolescent's ability to regulate their reactions to school, relationships and power. I have to tell you that I was one of those people who fully expected that my cheerful twelve-year-old to continue his habits of responsibility, good grades and a respectful approach to our power up to adulthood. Sigh.

I began to notice that something was wrong at half past six. Suddenly he did not speak. He cried a lot. Everything overwhelmed him, and he was convinced that no one loved him, and he would never have friends. (Is this not the reason why we did not send him to public school? To avoid these feelings?) Regardless of the fact that he was regularly surrounded by children who liked him. Regardless of the fact that he received high marks for the task - in his eyes it was still not enough.

What was worse in this situation was how it began to influence everyone. We were all wondering how to pass the day without breaking it. Tim and I began to feel completely inadequate parents and did not know how to respond to this completely different person in front of us. Other children who already had problems with rejection, felt that they had done something to cause this sharp shift in personality.

In short, it was terrible.

Start of treatment

Finally, after you tried supplements that did not work, we realized that it was depression, we accepted the advice of a doctor and put it on treatment with depression. I’m sorry to say that I didn’t do my homework about what these drugs would do to him because I was so tired. By that time, it was a year, and he started talking about suicide. He had several conversations with a pastor friend, who consulted a lot, but apart from that, being unemployed at that time, the most we could do was put him a medicine. We felt trapped.

The medicine that we finally settled (after several months of experiments), at least, made Ezra less like harming himself. In fact, we all could hope. We continued to fill out the recipe and limp together these days. He broke our hearts to see him so sad all the time.

Important discoveries

Accelerate three years. My 16-year-old son feels that he has enough medicine. He has chronic headaches and fatigue for several months, and we are sure that these are medications. So, I start research again. I found that there is now a lot more information about fighting depression than it was three years ago. In addition, we experimented with sugar and dairy-free diets for my middle son with great success for some other health problems. The side effect of this was a much more cheerful boy. When I study, I find out how important it is to buy organic and GMO products and understand that Ezra has symptoms that indicate an allergic reaction to inorganic products.

Another important discovery is how many good proteins and folic-rich foods have certain disadvantages associated with depression and anxiety. Grass-fed beef, organic, wild salmon and folate-rich foods such as avocados can turn the corner into a depression for some people.

These things, along with the discovery that I made a long time ago, about what is called Leica Gut syndrome, and how it can affect the brain, all contribute to making sure that he removes his medication for depression.

We are still at an early stage of this process. It has been about a month since our family began to change eating habits. It has been about three weeks since Ezra took the medicine. He is still experiencing some of the symptoms of mild withdrawal, but for the most part, the hardest part seems to be over. (The first week was terrible - like moving away from heroin).

Everyone in our house feels much better. I must say that, from an emotional point of view, change is dramatic. All three children (13, 14, 16) talk to me about twice as much as before. It seems that Ezra regained his identity and no longer has headaches. He is also much more energetic. I can't tell you how much relief to return to him. I did not understand how hard life was until the last couple of weeks.

Natural Decision Checklist

Here is a list of what we did to get to this point (to support the departure of the medical profession) ... It is important to note that the whole family does it together and that not every family will need the same things. Nevertheless, one irrevocable way out of refined sugars and goes organically.

  1. Refined sugars such as white sugar, high fructose corn syrup and non-germinated grains and white rice, which are converted to sugar during digestion, are removed.

  2. Typical dairy products are removed and switched to raw dairy products - reducing the consumption of dairy products in general.

  3. We now buy all organic, non-GMO products.

  4. Added vitamin B with folic acid instead of folic acid.

  5. A probiotic has been added to the Ezra regime (Gabriel has already taken it as part of his regime).

  6. Was there a clay de toxin to remove the remaining harmful chemicals from the Ezra drug.

  7. Cut sharply on gluten and now there are only germinated grains that contain much less gluten.

  8. Added a balancing blend of essential oils to the daily Ezra regimen.

The strategies we used over the past few weeks work in unexpected ways. Ezra is more fun than he has been for years, and everything is much calmer here. I hope that if you are experiencing what we are experiencing in your home, this short article will put you on the path to finding the answers you need for your teenager.
