This is medical care that is provided to those who have a medical condition or injury requiring medical attention. In addition, it is cheaper to attend emergency care than to visit an emergency room. Usually, the required medical assistance is within twenty-four hours after the injury has occurred or you have become ill. Emergency care is usually a clinic that is not attached to a hospital, but may be on the same basis as in a hospital. Many times, patients who visit this type of clinician have a regular doctor, but that day they cannot access their doctor, or this happens after hours with their doctor. If their medical illness or medical condition is not serious enough to guarantee a trip to the emergency room, they can instead go to emergency care.
These types of medical clinics began to appear in the 1970s, and many times health insurance companies strongly encouraged their clients to use this clinic when they needed medical care, and either did not have a regular doctor or could not see them. The reason why they encouraged their customers to use them is due to the cost reduction. Patients could also treat their conditions before they reached an emergency condition, and it took a trip to the emergency room. For example, if your child had a sore throat and was treated for twenty-four hours, he was very manageable and could be treated with a medicine for a sore throat and, possibly, an antibiotic along with rest. If this were ignored, it could become very serious, especially if it was at the weekend, and you may need to travel to the emergency room.
Many of these are “first-come-first-served” clinics, so if they are full, you can wait a bit. Some may require you to make an appointment, but guarantee that I will see you within twenty-four hours. Depending on the level of the emergency facility, these clinics may offer various medical services. If the need arises, the emergency room can send you to the emergency room at the hospital. Emergency care can also perform some basic medical tests, including medical images, such as ultrasound and x-rays, to diagnose your problem. After you are noticed in the emergency room, you will be asked to make a follow-up visit with your regular doctor in the next couple of days or to return if the condition worsens.
