Before starting any spring allergy treatment, you need to visit the pediatrician to check if it is an allergy causing your child’s illness, or if there is any other cause of the symptoms. Despite the fact that children do not have effective treatment for spring allergies, there are several ways you can make little ones feel better.
These few tips have proven to be effective in helping to curb the symptoms of allergy in the spring.
Keep your child indoors
Staying inside the house is one of the best ways to avoid contact with allergens. When the amount of pollen is high in the air, try to keep the baby indoors. The amount of pollen is highest in the middle of the morning or early evening or in the wind.
Cleaning of drains
Nasal congestion is one of the most painful symptoms of seasonal allergies. You can try nasal irrigation with salt water to make it easier. You can either buy salt water from the pharmacy or create your own by mixing 8 ounces of water with 1 teaspoon of salt.
Make your child drink plenty of water
Continuous sneezing and blowing your nose can make your child feel dry. Therefore, always keep the diaper on hand for your baby to be properly hydrated.
Steam therapy
It is normal to give a little bit time for a bath if the water is heated. Steam out of the water helps alleviate the symptoms of allergies. Just make sure that the water does not swear.
Keep your room cool
Turn on the air conditioner in your house and car so that the pollen does not make its way into your room.
Use a humidifier
Your baby will breathe much easier if there is some moisture in the air. If you live in an area with a dry climate, you might want to consider getting a humidifier.
Use cold compression
If your child is worried about an itchy eye symptom, then apply a cold compress on the eyes and face. A cold compress is an effective way to combat soreness and itching.
Gargling
If the child suffers from a sore throat, then saltwater rinsing can greatly help to ease the pain.
Hot drinks help too
A lot of fluid intake helps to check the symptoms of allergies. Ginger tea with lemon honey is a refreshing drink that also helps to relieve congestion and cold throat.
Use oil jelly for a sore nose.
If your child has a raw and sneezing nose, just pour vaseline to get rid of the pain.
