Previous UKCAT students advise us that you only have to spend a couple of weeks in coaching before the UKCAT to familiarize yourself with the assessment structure. In addition, applicants tell us that the walk-through is important; It’s rare that questions are problematic, but the speed you have to go through the exam may be. Use the UKCAT practice tests to get used to the UKCAT question set. There are different subtests: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, abstract reasoning and decision analysis. Since 2011, the test of a non-cognitive analysis has been discontinued, so there is no need to worry about this assessment.
It is also probably very important to note that countless applicants do not complete all subtests in the UKCAT. Try to try each of the questions, but don’t worry if you don’t get to the end of each section. You can be highly appreciated, even if you have not completed the section, because the assessment is based on a normal distribution curve based on the applicants of the entire population of subjects.
Remember that for each correct answer there is a score, but no marks are removed for erroneous answers. It is best that you do not leave unanswered questions. If you really cannot decide the answer, it’s better to exclude the answers that you know are wrong, and then it’s best to guess from the rest. One of the hallmarks of a multi-choice question is the inclusion of one or more answer choices that are incorrect, but almost correct. So try to find them and eliminate them. Such questions are not tricks. Accept that one (and only one) answer to each question is correct. All questions have been carefully checked. This method is especially useful in Decate UKCAT's analytical solution, but be careful, as this can be very laborious. If you are struggling with a question, go on to the next one. You can specify questions to consider so that you can leave them and return to them later.
In all these tips, it is important to remain relaxed at UKCAT. A stressful environment, such as admission tests, should be approached with a mature look at the positive results that may arise from this test. Replace disturbing energy with excitement.
