Dealing with a lack of a doctor -2

Health care reform is one of the biggest political problems in the country. He cannot even be summoned in a crowded room without starting a violent debate. As a rule, the address of the reform refers to the pricing structure. This is usually directed to doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies. There is no doubt that the crisis of the nation — and this is a crisis, and spending on health care is growing at a rate that the entire American economy consumes if it is not stopped — needs some kind of pricing reform. The economic rules of supply and demand cannot be left alone when supply is limited by the number of available specialists, and demand is limited only by the fact that a person wants to live ... which means that it is in fact infinite. However, the giant elephant in the room surrounding this discussion is a supply of doctors. The United States faces a critical shortage of qualified doctors, and projects will be much worse in the coming years. No solution for the nation’s health care will be viable unless it eliminates this shortcoming.

The number of new American doctors is reliably constant from year to year. The number of medical schools in the short term does not change dramatically, and the number of places in each school is rather static. However, the total population in the United States is growing. And with the advancement of medical research, as well as the amount of treatment available to this population. Thus, every doctor has a large load. When demand greatly outweighs supply, simple economy dictates that it will push prices higher. In most industries, as these prices rise, demand begins to decline, and often the price settles at a certain point. However, since health care is often a necessary aspect for the continuation of life, this does not happen. In fact, for many procedures, demand falls only when the full cost of an individual has been exhausted. The only long-term answer to this equation, with the exception of socialized medicine with cost control (which is the direction that this country is very appropriate), is a flooding of the market with supply. Although this is much easier said than done, there are some steps you can take to close the deficit deficit.

The first step is to expand the American offer. This means building more medical schools and expanding existing ones. This is a very difficult deal, when states are afraid, perhaps, of their budgets. Here they have to go to the people and lay out very clearly and as simply as possible where the citizens will see the benefits. More places in medical schools = more medical specialists = higher level of supply = lower prices for consumers in both the short and long term. It is extremely difficult to sell taxpayers on any campaign, but if they can see long-term economic benefits, it makes much more sense than vague promises when the legislature claims they know what's best for their people.

Unfortunately, the shortage of a doctor is so great that there is no way that it can be closed only by American medical universities. A cheaper and simpler solution to close this gap is to work with existing foreign schools to produce doctors who can work in the United States. There are literally hundreds of medical schools working outside the US with students who dream of becoming a doctor in the United States. However, most of these schools are not recognized by American councils, and their graduates are not allowed to practice within the borders. Working with these medical schools to provide the US curriculum and teach American standards, the nation will not only help increase the supply of medical professionals, but schools themselves will be able to sell this aspect to future students - thus increasing their own demand and ability to increase funding. to provide the best education.

These ideas may not completely close the lack of attention to the doctor, but these are steps in the right direction. One thing is certain: if the short word is ignored, there is no solution for health care reform that benefits all who have no results.
