Chlamydia, the most common curable sexually transmitted infection (STD) -2

Of the STDs that can be reduced, Chlamydia is the most common curable sexually transmitted disease. Chlamydia is caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, an obligate intracellular parasite. Although hundreds of thousands of new cases are reported annually, it is estimated that the number of reported cases is less than half of all infections. Why should this be? Because many cases of chlamydia do not develop symptoms.

If symptoms occur, they are different in men than in women; and may also be mistaken for any other type of infection. That is why it is important to get a test for chlamydia if you think that you have had sex with a person who may have a disease.

In men, this sexually transmitted disease usually affects the urethra, the tube inside the penis, which carries urine and sperm. Symptoms may include:

  • release from the opening of the penalty (urethra)
  • pain in the testicles
  • burning pain when urinating
  • pain or discharge from the rectum

In women, Chlamydia can infect the cervix, a hole that connects the vagina with the uterus or uterus. If this happens, the symptoms may include:

  • Vaginal irritation
  • Painful intercourse
  • Vaginal discharge
  • Indescribable pain in the lower abdomen
  • Pain in the rectum or discharge from it
  • Severe pelvic pain from an infection that ascended from the cervix to the upper reproductive tract.

It is advisable to ask for a screen for Chlamydia and other common sexually transmitted diseases before starting a new relationship with a new partner, where a person may be unprotected during sex. Prevention can be a powerful option through the use of condoms and other barriers. Chlamydia regular tests are recommended for people with multiple sexual partners or those who have had other STDs, such as gonorrhea or hepatitis. The reason is that there are often no obvious symptoms that are accompanied by Chlamydia.

Tests for this disease can be done for both men and women using urine, although usually a medical specialist takes a tampon from a woman’s cervix through urine. A culture derived from the Chlamydia clam test is more accurate. Samples can also be taken from a person's penis to perform screen culture. Testing for chlamydia in this way allows the culture to grow and antibodies to form over time. These antibodies can then be seen and identified under a microscope.

Once the tests return a positive or negative result, you can know how to proceed with the treatment if necessary. The treatment of CHFV usually consists of a course of prescription antibiotics. Taking antibiotics, as indicated, will relieve a person from Chlamydia in a few weeks. During treatment, sex partners must practice safe sex, because during this time the disease is still contagious.
