Inpatient or outpatient treatment center
When you are looking for a drug treatment center for detoxing drugs or helping with a drug problem, first decide what level of treatment you need. A visit to a hospital or institution is expensive and traumatic for most people; he is just starting the recovery process. Nowadays, more drug treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis, and this is of great importance since drug treatment is a long-term process.
Do not follow someone for help. Your personal physician is a great place to start and can help you decide whether you need to be hospitalized. Doctors have good contacts in their community and know who to go to and where to avoid them. Their experience with therapists and their knowledge of psychiatrists in this region may influence your decision. Avoiding hospitalization is not always the right way, but it will save thousands of dollars and avoid missing work or other obligations.
Your family doctor treats addiction too
Family documents are great, my wife is alone. They have a happy nature and they want to go on a journey to help their patients. There are currently many treatments for addiction treatment in the doctor’s office.
Now we have both pills and injections for the treatment of alcoholism, which can be given in the clinic. Some patients may take medicine at home to stop them from drinking alcohol. We have buprenorphine for drug addiction. Some patients really see their Family Doctor well for very short therapy sessions without the need for further counseling or treatment.
State medical centers
Before contacting you personally, or if you do not have a family doctor, call the state mental health department. They can be found in the phone book or on the Internet in the Mental Health catalog, or the Department of Social Services, or Drug Administration, or Health and Family Services. When you know what is available in your area, discuss it with your own doctor.
People would be amazed at the help their individual states can provide. They usually have separate treatment sites for drug addiction, mental health (depression, schizophrenia, bipolar illness) and mental retardation. Government agencies will link patients to local services, and local departments will often hold free screenings. They often work on sliding scales and are much cheaper than private services. In my experience, you can get good treatment in this way if they demonstrate that they are ready to participate in all meetings.
The biggest drawback to local mental health departments is that they can take up to several months to arrange a meeting with their regular psychiatrist (and not just with an emergency). When finances are a factor, I usually see the patient making the first few visits while working to get them to the local mental health department.
Private treatment centers
Private treatment centers are usually expensive, and they have a greater sense of privacy than government facilities. These properties are usually well advertised and easily accessible. The services provided have a more pleasant environment, and patients who go there usually have insurance or work.
The main advantages of private treatment centers include their expanded services and improved staff training. There may be more postoperative care groups and more comfortable hours. I have always heard that talent goes where there is money, and this is no different. This is not always the case, but more often it is.
Free treatment (or almost free)
If you are prone to alcohol, contact anonymous alcoholics. AA has a long history and works well, or better than anything. It is easily accessible, as a rule, even small cities have several meetings per day. Did I mention they were free? I only tell patients about two things: 1. Try two or three different AA groups, because each group is very different from the next. 2. Get a sponsor with a sobriety of at least 5 years, preferably 10 years of sobriety. In my experience, alcoholics with less than 5 years of sobriety usually do not have peace of mind, clarity and experience to help new members as sponsors.
If you are addicted to drugs, addicts can be found just like AA. I found the quality of the NA meetings not as good as the meetings with AA, so finding good sponsors is even more important. Consider avoiding meetings in which few people are sober for less than a year.
For those who are not interested in 12-step programs, I have to note that participating in you with the local church and receiving pastoral counseling for many people. For those who are not religiously minded, there is a Ration Recovery.
Eventually
There are many places where you can find treatment for addiction: from you, the family doctor, to state mental institutions. There are expensive private amenities and free meetings around the city. The key is to remember that addiction is a chronic disease. This will require constant treatment. One hospitalization or a meeting will not fix dependence. Make sure that you look at the options with your family doctor, because they can treat addiction and help you make the best decision for your situation.
