If you are going to be a medical technologist in California (called a clinical laboratory researcher through the California Department of Public Health, which controls licensing), you will need to obtain a state license. There are several license categories in California:

- Clinical Microbiologist
- Clinical hematologist scientist
- Clinical Toxicology Scientist
- Clinical Immuno Hematologist Scientist
- Clinical cytogenetic scientist
- Clinical Genetics Molecular Biologist
- Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist
A scientist from a clinical laboratory is what is known as a synthesis, which means that they do not focus on any single part of the medical technology. Most graduates of the curriculum of a medical therapist or clinical laboratory of a scientist will be licensed as generalists (CLS) if they have not already received additional training along with the assessment required for specialization.
Mandatory exams
Observers (clinical laboratory scientists) must accept the California Authorized American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) to obtain a license. The replacement of the American Bioanalyst Association (AAB) is also approved as a replacement.
Men and women hoping to focus on chemistry along with microbiology should first get certified by taking the California exam (ASCP) for their particular areas of expertise. To specialize in toxicology, candidates will need to pass a California-approved National Register of Certified Chemists (NRCC) for toxicology.
Candidates wishing to specialize in immunohematology and hematology will need to successfully pass the attestation of the state of California before a license is granted.
Application process
First step: Complete the online application through the Field Services Laboratory of the California Department of Public Health and pay for non-refundable charges for $ 230. Hyperlink
Second step: Print, sign your name and submit the appraisal form confirming the accuracy and accuracy of your materials provided to the application. You should expect delivery of the form by mail or email 5 days after you download the application. (Hint: you need to send back the signed appraisal document, otherwise the application will not be analyzed.)

The third step: Talk to your college, university, curriculum or any other body, and send them your training courses to the Field Service Laboratory using your previously sent mailing address.
Fourth step: Receive reports of one confirmation of training and work experience directed directly to laboratory field services, including start and close dates, as well as the number of hours or weeks devoted to each topic. A brief explanation of mastering methods is required.
STEP 5: When you receive a qualification letter with the attached “unique identifier”, you need to pass an online CA test using a security password that will be provided to you according to your qualifications.
STEP 6: If you are not yet accredited to your chosen medical discipline, you will need to work with the unique ID card given to you in your qualification document in order to pass the accreditation exam with the help of a legal verification agency. Results must be delivered directly from the agency to the Field Service Lab.

People who have gone to study programs outside of the United States of America will first need to receive a duplicate of their entries at the American Association of Collegial Registrars and Admissions (AACRAO) for evaluation. The end result should be sent directly to laboratory field services.
