 Introduction to Parent ADHD -2

In my fifteen years of private practice working with children with ADHD, one of the common problems that I saw with my parents was the fear that they did something or did not do something that caused their ADHD. I suppose it's normal when you have problems with yourself. However, it is important that parents know that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is not the result of “bad parenting” or unpleasant, intentional disobedience on the part of the child. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a health condition caused by genetic factors that lead to certain neurological differences. Yes, a child may show disobedience, regardless of whether he has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or not. But disobedience, disobedience, and egoism are usually “moral” problems, not neurological problems. Do not make excuses for "immoral", "selfish" or "destructive" behavior, whether in people with ADD or ADDD. Parents need to activate and correct these behavioral problems wherever a child has ADHD or not.

It is also possible that parents may need further preparation. We are constantly surprised at how many young parents today grow up in homes where their parents have gone all day. Now we see that “children grow up with a latch key”, trying to treat their parents as best as possible, but without being able to grow with good parental role models. This is a problem in any family, but especially when there is a child in the house who is inconsiderate, impulsive and possibly hyperactive. Parents should consider becoming part of the parental class offered by a local psychotherapist or local church. These classes can be a good investment of your time.
