I used to own one of these big weight measuring machines. It cost me a couple of thousand dollars and was really good quality. I sold it on eBay for $ 150 last year.
Now I use inexpensive equipment and get better results. I can go out and train, or I can train in front of the TV. I can train in the living room and watch the children at the same time. Or I can collect it all and take it to the park and chat with friends and customers elsewhere. I no longer stuck in the office. And, as I said, the results were amazing. So what am I using?
First of all, I would recommend a good set adjustable dumbbells. You know those where you can add or remove weight plates as needed. I actually have a couple of sets. One I keep quite heavy for use with exercises on my legs and one set, which I change a lot more depending on what exercises I do. This will probably be your most expensive purchase, but you will use them again and again. There are so many different ways to use them, and you can easily work with your whole body in any way. Virtually any exercise can be performed using a set of dumbbells.
Another piece of fitness equipment I use is mine. medicine balls There are so many different ways to use medicine balls. You can get them quite cheaply at major sporting goods stores or online. I use 4 kg and 6 kg. I use them in every session with my personal training clients and bootcamps. They are great for use on their own or for working with partners.
One of my most used pieces of equipment is step. I had a friend who built me from the tree he was lying around. It is about 12 inches tall and wide and about 4 feet long. Customers can get either the end, or step forward and down. It's amazing how much harder they can go with someone else to keep up. The stage goes well with dumbbells or a ball for a step, stepped paths, side steps, flying out of the box or onto the box, or even lowering the side. You can also jump in and off the box or even use it to push ups. Put your hands on it to make them easier, or your legs to make it harder. Clients who find it difficult to get up and down from the floor can even do exercises on it, and this doubles as a bench. To improve fitness, the step is invaluable.
Another cheap piece of fitness equipment is modest. jump rope The use is obvious and you will be surprised how difficult it is if you haven't tried it lightly. However, if you persist, you will quickly improve your fitness with regular rope jumps, and they are great for losing weight.
There are many other inexpensive items that you can include in your home gym. They may include resistance bands which are great for relaxing and yoga type mats which are useful when training outside on solid surfaces. Giri are great, but they can be quite expensive, so find them around. There are many suppliers online. I use them a lot in training, and my clients love them too. There are many kettlebell exercises for developing strength, improving endurance or burning fat, and they work really, very well.
These are just some of the inexpensive ways to equip your home gym. Do not be fooled into thinking that you need an expensive car with a heavy weight. All my clients, not to mention myself, without fantastic results.
