You're right, Arnold. Exercise is medicine.-2

I'm not necessarily a big fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but I was so impressed with the article I just read in the November / December 2008 issue of Fitness Magazine. Recently, the governor of California began to promote an initiative involving more than 2,000 doctors to schedule at least 150 minutes of exercise per week for sedentary patients.

I think it is “so great!” At a time when we have such a widespread intensity of so many different health problems like cancer, diabetes, stroke and heart disease, there really cannot be a better answer. With one of the leading physical conditions, we are faced with obesity, and with him does not look, so it is getting better soon, then active participation and exercise is our best choice.

I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to listen and meet the guru of America, Mark Fenton. Mark was a member of the US national racial attack team. former chief editor of WALKING magazine; host of the PBS mandate for March 2000,Walk to a better life "; and now the owner of the new PBS series, "Walk America, And I really think he said it better when he said:North America suffering from an epidemic ... epidemic of inaction“We are still - we are not moving enough!

And this "lack of activity“Is killing us. This is the main reason for our question about obesity and, in turn, the root cause of most of our widespread health problems. It is no secret that physical activity and exercise play an important role in preventing diseases, so why do doctors not regularly evaluate and analyze all levels of patient activity at each visit? Do it for the course.

Obviously, what we are doing now is not working! And if we know that the exercise is at the top of the list to help prevent and sometimes help cure many health problems, does the “prescriptive activity” make sense?

Arnold Schwarzenegger stood next to the past president of the American College of Sports Medicine, Dr. Robert Sallis, on a health forum, quoting the famous line “Sound Body - Sound of the Mind.” Exercise and activity are key. Dr. Sallis presented a program run by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) called "Exercise is Medicine (TM)."

Their initiative is that physical activity is considered by all health care providers as a vital sign at each patient visit and that patients are effectively consulted and related to their physical activity and health needs, which led to an overall improvement in the health of the population and a long reducing health care costs. I invite you to familiarize yourself with the “Exercise in Medicine” website and talk to our doctors - we should start looking at what we are doing, otherwise!

Unfortunately, we are not becoming more active because we know that we “must” (or even because we feel better when we do). Maybe we will become more active if ordered to us!

Our medical system is more contested than ever, and we must be active on our own health. We can't wait for you to go - the exercise is really the simplest and best solution - activate NOW!

As an ambassador for fitness, known as the “Pole Lady,” my mission is to pick people off the couch! Not only is one of the easiest and best forms of exercise, but simply adding poles to your walk, as the Europeans have done since the 1930s, you can turn a walk through the block into an effective full body workout! 30 minutes walk by foot = 50 minutes of normal walking! Using 90% of your muscles and burning up to 48% more calories than regular walking are just SOME benefits of walks around the North Pole!
