9 obstacles to achieving your goals -2

Although you may have spent a lot of time reaching your goals for the next year, there are many things that will help you achieve them.

Before we continue, let's set the language here. Goals can be replaced by goals, objectives, results, achievements, resolutions, goals, aspirations, and any others that you can think about. For the purposes of this report, the author will use the Objective.

How often do you start with a year or at the next stage of your development with good intentions and some goals, what do you want to achieve, only to find that in some way you never see their achievement? In this article I will discuss the 9 biggest obstacles that will disturb you. I will take each in turn and explore what is behind it, why it is, and, more importantly, the action you can take to put it in one direction.

What I also do indicates that this is the use of responses from a survey conducted with Sole Traders and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which determine the problems they face next year.

Although there are probably hundreds of potential obstacles, 9 are the most common.

1. Lack of information
2. Lack of skills
3. Restriction of belief
4. Well-being
5. Other people
6. Self-motivation
7. Time
8. Money
9. Fear

Why is there a goal?
If you need more reason, set your own goals, in a study conducted on students in the Harvard MBA program in 1979, only three percent of graduations made up goals and plans; 13 percent had goals, but they were not written; and 84% did not set any goals.

Ten years later, the findings showed that 13 percent of the class, which had goals, were close to 84 percent compared to those who did not ask. For the three percent who defined their goals and wrote them down, they met on average ten times more than the other 97 percent.

Some set too general goals. This, in fact, fantasies, common to all. On the other hand, the goals are clear, written, concrete and measurable.

What is the goal?
Other names that are used explore other languages. Why do we have them? Different targets - to / from.

Some targets are withdrawn from targets. Usually they are created negatively. Here are some examples.
o I don't want to smoke anymore
o I don't want to be unusable
o I don't want to be overweight
o I don't want to be broken

Now translate them into positive
o I'm not a smoker
o I am healthy
o I'm in my ideal weight
o I can cover my bills

Pay attention to the difference. They are stated in the positive and assume that you have already achieved this. Assuming that “as if” your behavior changes, so that you act as if you have already achieved what you wanted to do. What a great feeling to have even before you got there. It also strengthens your motivation.

So, now we have determined whether our goal is to something or from something. We stated this in a positive way. This, however, is still not a very clear goal. Now we will look at how we can make this more specific.

The ideal goal must be expressed in a positive, temporary and concrete. You may also like how you know when you realize it, what it will be, what will be the people around you? What will you do to celebrate it?

The goal must be temporary. When do I want to achieve this? If this happens when I want to do it, when should I start? What is the first step I should take? Who should I say? Should say that this is the first step? What skills or knowledge do I need to acquire along the way?

The size of the goal, the goal is too large to achieve? If this is the case, then breaking it into smaller bite pieces may be correct.

How serious are you about this goal. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 is low and 10 is high), how much are you committed to this goal? If your answer is less than 7, you illegally watch him completely. What do you need to do with this in order to move it from 7 to 8?

Now that you have truly defined your goal, you are ready to go. Is not it? So what are you stopping?

In turn, I will take each of the potential obstacles and clarify.

Lack of information
Information can have one of two effects. You can be overwhelmed with excess and can prevent you from making a decision or taking the following steps. With too little information, you are not able to move things into perspective or look at the big picture. Determining where you have gaps in your knowledge, including as part of your goal, will bring you closer to achieving it. There are several ways to get new information. Study, scheduled reading, listening to CDs, DVDs on a particular topic, or talking to people who have knowledge you can share with you.

Lack of skill
To move forward, you may have to pick up skills along the way. This should not be a terrible challenge. As part of setting up your goal, understanding what skills you need to acquire, and how you acquire them, will make up the steps of your plan. This does not necessarily mean that you need to enroll in a course, although this is a great idea. Other alternatives, such as online research, planned reading, shading a college workplace, or seeking advice from a friend, can also help you gain the skills you need.

Limiting beliefs
We all have a set of beliefs that we live by. They are established in our subconscious at an early age. Sometimes these beliefs can hold you and limit your ability to achieve your goals. Some common examples may be familiar to you.

Indecision or delay - should I do something? This often leads to the fact that you do nothing. The limiting belief manifests itself as “I cannot make decisions.” It is impossible to make progress or get stuck - when the way of working is more inefficient, you continue to use it and often form a comfort zone, the ultimate faith here can be “I can’t / will’t change.” Often people say that “I do not deserve success,” or “this should not work for me.” Here we see sabotage and do not evaluate ourselves and our abilities. These are just a few examples, but listen to them and notice how many times you hear you say such things.

Well-being
After your best efforts, there may be times when you simply cannot pursue your goals. A sudden illness or injury can put you back. When this happens, you should be realistic. Beating yourself will not help, do not even give up. Spend a little time to evaluate your goal and consider what your options are now. How important it is for this goal to be achieved in the initial time frame. Also think about how you can still pursue a goal, and who can help you at this time.

Other people
Often the people who are closest to us are afraid of achieving our goals. For them, this means that you can change, and it will also mean a change for them. They may not know how important your goals are for you. If people who you share your time with, for example, with family, friends, colleges, in order not to understand and not to support your goals, there is a chance that this may affect you. If these people are unfavorable for change, they can sabotage your plans.

Self motivation
Although you may see the best intentions, after a while the novelty may wear off or other distractions. This may be several factors. Perhaps the goals you set were too large and should have been broken into smaller manageable pieces. Perhaps you are not getting results, and you need to think about what you are doing, which prevents you from moving forward. After long efforts, you may feel that the goal at present is actually what it doesn’t want, or at least the way out.

In this case, the goal should be reevaluated. If it requires a change, because circumstances have changed, change it. If he no longer serves you, then do not waste your energy, watching something just because you started it.

Time
We all live in a world where we don’t seem to have enough time. Many of us are “poor in time,” which means that we do not use time to get the best results. Quite often, I hear from people around me: “I just don’t have time to do x”. How true is this statement? Too much we took, emptied ourselves and embarrassed to say no? Perhaps, but I have a different opinion.

If we approach our use of time without any structure, we can simply move from one thing to another in a particular order. Without priority, we will move from one thing to the next urgent thing.

There is also the aspect of distractions. This may be a distraction from others who do not have the same aspirations as you. Distracting phone calls and emails. Quite often we are engaged in what is nice to do, but do not make us further to achieve our goals.

Money
Money is a common reason not to pursue your goal. Usually it is the lack of money that stops you. When you hear someone say: "I can not afford it" or "I just have no money." These statements are usually offered without much hesitation.

Although I agree that to some extent this may be true, what alternatives have they really explored and how else can you find money? If you are really serious about achieving this goal, what lengths would you make to find money (legally)!

Turn it and look at it from another point of view. What you should not have this goal in your life right now? For example, being in this bad relationship or experiencing poor health. If he was going to get you this next job to achieve this goal or meant that you would get a 10% bonus for the job, what efforts would you make?

Fear
What do I mean by fear? There are more simple examples. If you need to do something that will lead you right outside the comfort zone for the first time, that may well set the fear in you.

Then there is the fear of failure. What will be around you if you do not reach your goal. How do you come across them and maintain your integrity. Better to quit now to see it right? Thus, no one can judge me.

Another type of fear is the fear of success. What if I do this and people find out that I am a fraudster? Is that something I really want? Self-confidence comes into play, and you try to talk yourself out of it.

What evidence confirms this in a business context?

In a recent survey conducted with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and individual entrepreneurs, they were asked what they considered to be the biggest problems facing them in 2010. All respondents reported that they partially achieved success in achieving their goals and objectives in 2009. 33% of these goals were significant, and the reasons for their inadequacy were related to poor health, rather than asking for help and lack of confidence in the economy, among others.

Many of these goals were transferred to the next year, some of them pursued all their goals. When they were asked what they were going to do to achieve these goals, 66% said that they would try something else and 33% would seek help.

So what's stopping these business people from moving forward? Of the sample tested, the main factors were lack of skills, lack of knowledge, health, fear (success / failure) and limiting beliefs.

Those who replied that they would seek help; he was equally divided among others in his profession or profession, approached a business coach or turned to specialized suppliers. Of these three options, of course, looking at what your competitors are doing, you can give some tips. After all, if someone in our sector successfully looks at what they are doing. Similarly, supplier specialists can be helpful if you understand goals and aspirations. However, they may have a different agenda, because they are also in business.

However, neither of these two approaches is intended to help you achieve your goals, and neither of them will hold you accountable for their work. This is where a business coach can be especially valuable. They will help you define and develop your goals, determine what stops you, and develop strategies that will help you cope with these obstacles when they come.

A business coach will also challenge you to check whether you are working on goals that move you towards what you want and keep you accountable for these goals. As a sole trader or small and medium business, there is often no one with whom you can share your goals and discuss them.

One common objection to using a business coach is perceived value, often saying “I can't afford it” or “too expensive.” Sometimes it is useful to look at it from a different point of view. What you should not use a business coach? If you can attach value to achieve each goal, then the services of an effective business coach can be quickly calculated.

Let's return to the respondents for a moment. Two of the problems identified are lack of skills and lack of knowledge. Suppose for a moment, if a business coach can help you determine what spaces are, how to close them, and then how to apply them to your business, what will it cost? You might think that you can go it alone, but think about how you would clearly identify these gaps in skills or knowledge? How long will it take you? Which direction would you go? for example
