Identify allergens in your diet and avoid them with dietary changes, including the GARD or diet diet. Turning diet follows a different theory that allows you to expose each food once every four days. The immune system calms down when frequent exposure to the allergen is not observed. Gluten can be a trigger for many people with migraines. Try to keep a food diary for at least one month to identify foods that may be your triggers.

Many people with migraines may have problems with environmental pollution and triggers. They can be avoided or eliminated with hard work. Otherwise, this can be eliminated with a decrease in stress and an improvement in overall diet and health. Stress can be improved by changing jobs, divorcing an abusive, new job, a new hobby that you like, volunteering and watching a comedy on television or in movies. Stress can be reduced with yoga, tai chi and qigong. There are several alternative treatments that can help migraines, such as neurobio-feedback, hypnosis, homeopathy and Bach flower remedies.

Chinese traditional medicine (TCM) does an excellent job with improving migraine using patent medicine formulas and liquid herbal extracts that can be used along with radiation therapy, auricular acupuncture, head acupuncture and traditional body acupuncture. These treatments usually require two weeks to improve. An acupuncturist may recommend several months of treatment depending on how long you have had a migraine.
